Based in Los Angeles, El Nido's mission is to empower families in low income areas to break the cycle of poverty, abuse, violence, and academic failure. Their services and programs provide education, development, and health and therapeutic services for young children, teens, and whole families.
Grow Cycling Foundation promotes education, access, and opportunities that increase diversity and inclusion in cycling. They create new avenues for inclusive community building and career development in the cycling industry, as well as empower existing programs working to tear down the barriers to entry in cycling for marginalized communities.
East Side Riders is a community organization focused on empowering and inspiring residents of Watts – and their new location in Compton – through bikes. From serving free meals to community members (no questions asked) to offering bike safety classes for neighborhood kids, East Side Riders is focused on moving its communities forward.
Healthy Active Streets is on a mission to educate, organize, and provide resource to underserved communities to achieve mobility equity and environmental justice. Based in Long Beach, Healthy Active Streets has a 2-pronged approach: 1) use education to chip away at the barriers to biking that historically affect low-income communities of color, and 2) use advocacy to empower residents to create the changes they want to see.
CicLAvia organizes car-free streets events to combine public spaces, active transportation, and good health to transform peoples' relationships with their communities and with each other. They have been opening streets and helping people experience their neighborhoods in a new way for over 10 years, with events all over Los Angeles county.
